Metronome December web.jpg

Season's Greetings and welcome to the December issue of Metronome. It's hard to believe that 2023 is almost behind us. Bring on the New Year! We have four great cover artists this month that share their unique musical stories with us. First up, West Coast troubadour Eddie Berman talks about his outstanding new album Signal Fire and the process it took to create it. Then, one of New England's finest reggae acts, Soulshot, step up and talk about their long and storied career in the Northeast music scene. If you like reggae, you'll really dig this band. Up next, New Hampshire's No More Blue Tomorrows grabbed our attention with their outstanding debut CD, so we thought it fitting to feature them in this issue with their story. Last, but certainly not least, Jamie Dunphy and brother Drew Dunphy reformed their childhood band The Beige, and delivered a poignant new album called Refrigerate After Opening. The duo had lots to talk about and we captured every word. Don't miss their story.

As always you'll find in-depth CD reviews of Bobby Sutliff, Blue Heart Records: Jingle All The Way, Eric Kilburn, Robin Trower w/Sari Schoor, Bumbles Bounce, Alex Lopez, Laura Zarougian, Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps, Brenda, Garment District, Young Francis Hi-Fi, The Oxys, Soft Science, Richard Duguay, Swansea Sound & King Falcon as well as our usual scribblings: Metronome Madness, Club & Concert News, The Time Machine (Aerosmith) and Musician's Classifieds. You can also check out the column by musician/lawyer Richard Berger about music law. If you need his help he can be reached at rkentberger@gmail.com.

Sadly we say our earthly goodbyes to Isley Brothers singer, Rudy Isley, who died October 11 of a heart attack at his home. He was 84; Pop-Rock singer Dwight Twilley who passed away October 18 at age 72 after crashing his car in to a tree; Drummer Steve Riley of W.A.S.P. and L.A. Guns who died October 24 at age 67. Riley was born in Revere, MA and moved to L.A. to pursue a carer in music. He achieved his dream. All these artists leave their music to the world.
Rest In Peace!
