Hello friends, fans and music lovers. Welcome to the February issue of Metronome. There are four musical acts gracing our cover this month, each with their own story to tell. First up, Jazz pianist Peter Martin and his band Generation S talk about their outstanding new self-titled CD featuring some of the ptightest improve jazz you'll hear all year. If you like free form jazz, you'll really dig this group. Next up, progressive rocker, keyboardist and programmer, Robert Bushinsky lets us in on the making of his great new record, Disregarding The Brightest Shades of Scarlet. Then Boston's own Sunfisher weighs on their outlaw country stylings. These guys carry a big ole' musical chip on their shoulder. I guarantee you're going to like 'em. Lastly, we outline the Best of The Best from 2023 that include musicians and bands: Gino Caira, Hummingbird Syndicate, Yates McKendree, Jamie Dunphy, Alex Bird & Ewen Farncombe, The Cold Stares, Jewel Brown, Bruce Tarney, Electric Standard, Lil' Jimmy Reed, Bobbo Byrnes, The Midnight Callers, Raymond Gonzalez, Squeezebox Stompers, Jason James, Peter Poirier, Dede Booth, Valerie Giglio, Gregory Hutchinson, Tom Hambridge, The Daylilies and Eddie Berman. Don't miss a note from these great artists.

As always you'll find poignant CD reviews of this month's offerings: Kevin Burt & Bad Medicine, Mathias Lattin, Tokyo Tramps, Randy Lee Riviere, Eightlock, Jason Ricci & The Bad Kind, Cedar County Cobras, Mint Mind, Howlin' Jaws, Maripolar, The Master Plan, Shplang and Why England Slept alongside our monthly columns: Metronome Madness, Club & Concert News, The Time Machine (Paul McCartney & Wings) and Musician's Classifieds. PLUS: Make sure to check out the informative column by musician/lawyer Ricky Berger about music law. This guy has seen it all, so if you need his help, reach out to him at rkentberger@gmail.com.

Sadly, we say our earthly goodbyes to Mahogany Rush drummer Jimmy Ayoub who died in his sleep on December 10 at age 70. David Soul of the hit TV show, Starsky & Hutch who died in London at age 80 on January 4. Drummer James Kottak who played with the Scorpions died January 9 at age 61. Kottak also played with Kingdom Come, Montrose, Warrant and the McAuley Schenker Group among others. These musicians all leave their music forever to the world.
Rest In Peace!
