Metronome May web.jpg

Hello friends, musicians and music lovers, welcome to the May issue of Metronome. We have three stories gracing our cover this month. First up, Roots-rockers Electric Standard weigh in with their outstanding new CD offering, Lady Luck & The Grand Vizier. It's an album rich with blues, folk and pop/rock stylings that you'll want to check out. Next up, North shore based singer-songwriter Bruce Tarney talks about his outstanding new record, Idiots On Parade. Producer/engineer/keyboardist Brian Maes brought guitarist Kook Lawry, bassist Tim Archibald, guitarist Danny McCarthy and drummer Tony DiPietro in to the mix along with singers MaryBeth and Madeline Maes making for a great sounding record while capturing Tarney at his the top of his game. This album rocks... Give a listen! In the Need-To-Know department: The Baby Safe Haven law has been an important effort enacted to save infants who would have previously been abandoned by frightened parents. The Marlboro, MA. based organization run by Jean and Mike Morrisey are helping to bring awareness to the cause by holding concerts and musical events on their Baby Safe Haven Stages throughout the Bay State. Be sure to check out this important story...
And the music plays on.

Of course you'll also find new CD reviews of Jeff Pitchell, Teresa James, John Primer, Natalie McMaster & Donnell Leahy, National Honor Society, Flower Cat, Steve Stoeckel, The Covids, The Rishis, Robocop Kraus, Big Harp George, Sister Lucille, Big Shoes, Diane Blue All-Star Band and Casual Worker along with Metronome Madness, Metroscene-Concert & Club News, The Time Machine (featuring 4 artists: Norman Greenbaum, Andy Pratt, Jeff Beck & David Crosby), and Musicians Classifieds.

We also say goodbye to guitarist Tom Leadon of Mudcrutch who passed away March 22 at age 70, Procol Harum lyricist Keith Reid who died March 23 at 76, singer Howie Kane of Jay & The Americans who died March 26 at 77, bassist Sweet Charles Sherrell, of James Brown's band, who passed away March 29, saxophonist/keyboard man Ian Bairnson of The Alan Parson's Project who died April 7 and bassist John Regan of Ace Frehley's Comets & Peter Frampton who died on April 7 at age 71. Prayers to all. Thank you for your musical gifts.
