Metronome April web.jpg

Hello friends of Metronome and welcome to the April issue. Spring is here and the warm weather is on its way. Of course you'll hear music playing everywhere. Just listen. Four outstanding acts grace our cover this month, each with a story all their own. First up, musical mensch Raymond Gonzalez talks about his ingenious new record of electronic music called Two Suites. It's a departure for the typically stealthy six stringer, but nevertheless as entertaining as all get-out. Next up, one of New England's finest blues acts, One Dime Band, never fail to impress on record or in the live arena and their latest offering Side Hustlwill prove to be one of the finest albums you'll hear all year. Then the band with the curious name, Why England Slept, give us a glimpse at ther well-played and produced instrumental offering, House of Pizza. You'll really dig what these guys are doing. Finally we land on Americana roots band, Daniel Miller & The High Life. Miller and the boys really know how to deliver the goods, so don't miss out on this talented Boston act

As you turn the pages, you'll find carefully scripted CD reviews of the Altered Five Blues Band, Raymond Gonzalez, Nola Blue Records, Speedfossil, Mike Zito,
Tom Rush, Pierre Omer's Swing Revue, Rick Vito, Leo Lyons' Hundred Seventy Split, Brad Marino and Gym Tonic along with regular columns: Metronome Madness, Metroscene, The Time Machine (Alan Parsons Project) and Musical Gear Classifieds. Our German correspondent Alex Gecko also weighs in with  Irish Musician's Autobiography reviews that include Bob Geldof, U2, Sinead O'Connor and Christy Moore. Just when you think that's all the pages have to offer, check out the musician/lawyer Ricky Berger's music law column. If you have any questions for him, you can contact him at: rkentberger@gmail.com. He's good at getting back to you.

Sadly, we say goodbyes to Austin, Texas bluesman W.C. Clark who passed away on March 2 from natural causes. He was 84 years old. Clark will be remembered for mentoring an entire generation of Texas blues artists that include Stevie Ray Vaughan, Angela Strehli, Jimmy Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton. He also co-penned the hit, "Cold Shot" with Stevie Ray Vaughan; Singer Steve Lawrence died from complications due to Alzheimer's disease in Los Angeles, on March 7, 2024, at the age of 88. He was one half of the Steve Lawrence & Eydie Gorme vocal duo that was so prevalent on 1960s and 1970s television shows. His wife, Eydie Gormé died on August 10, 2013, at age 84.
Rest In Peace!
